How to Set Up Synology Drive Client for Folder Sharing

This guide will help you access shared files from Penguin Films' Synology Drive using the Synology Drive Client. Follow the steps below to get started.

Step 1: Download and Install Synology Drive Client

  1. Go to the Synology Drive Client download page:https://www.synology.com/en-global/dsm/feature/drive
  2. Select the version compatible with your operating system:
    • Windows, macOS, or Linux.
  3. Download and run the installer. Follow the installation prompts to complete the setup.

Step 2: Launch Synology Drive Client

  1. Open the Synology Drive Client application after installation.
  2. Click Start Now to begin.

Step 3: Connect to Penguin Films' Synology Drive

  1. In the Server Address field, enter the QuickConnect Key provided by Penguin Films.
    For example: penguinfilmsQC.
  2. Enter your username and password provided by Penguin Films.
  3. Click Next.

Step 4: Select Your Sync Task

  1. Choose Sync Task to set up a folder synchronization between your computer and the Synology Drive server.
    • This allows you to work on files locally while keeping them synced.
  2. Click Next.

Step 5: Configure the Sync Folder

  1. Select the folder on your computer where you want the shared files to be stored.
  2. Choose the shared folder on Penguin Films' Synology Drive that you want to sync.
  3. Click Next to proceed.

Step 6: Sync Settings

  1. Review the synchronization settings:
    • Two-way Sync: Updates changes in both your local folder and Synology Drive.
    • One-way Sync: Syncs files only in one direction (download or upload).
  2. Select your preference and click Apply.

Step 7: Verify and Start Syncing

  1. After setup, Synology Drive Client will display the sync status.
    • You can see which files are synced, pending, or have errors.
  2. Your shared folder is now ready to use. Files will sync automatically based on your settings.

Additional Notes

  • Network Issues? Ensure you have a stable internet connection. Contact Penguin Films if you cannot connect to the server.
  • Accessing Files Offline: Synced files are stored locally and can be accessed even when you're offline.
